Welland man charged for driving through Ajax GO station

Durham Police have charged a man from Welland after driving his car down the pedestrian walkway of the Ajax GO station.
Around 12:30 am on September 20, a man drove his Lexus into the walkway of the station’s North deck. He continued down the tunnel and a flight of stairs. The car crashed through two sets of doors causing extensive damage before the driver drove away. The driver left his rear bumper and other evidence at the scene.
No one was injured in the event.
Shaayan Akhtar, 22, is charged with dangerous operation, mischief over $5000 and failure to report an accident.
