With a stellar 21-6 record, as well as a seven-game winning streak, the Welland Jackfish are perched on top of the Intercounty Baseball League standings.

For opponents in the league, the Jackfish 12-3 record at home in Welland Stadium and 9-3 record on the road has the others wondering where on earth they can play the Niagara squad.

Only the London Majors with their 19-8 record are visible in the Welland read-view mirror.

And how did the Jackfish treat the visiting Majors on July 14 in front of a record crowd of 2,495? They clobbered them 20-2 under a masterful pitching performance by Jake Harford as every since Welland player recorded at least one hit.

OHL play-by-play man Jack Moore (@MadJack54) was happy for a night of simply watching sports rather than calling them, enjoying a pre-game Pond Water Lager made by Beamsville’s Newark Brewing and catching this picture of the record-breaking crowd of 2,495 at Welland Stadium on July 14.

Since that game, Welland has beaten Barrie 9-3 on July 15 and then added an 11-5 win playing in Hamilton against the Cardinals yesterday (July 17).

Welland welcomes the Kitchener Panthers to “The Pond” Thursday night (July 21) with a 7:30 pm first pitch. For tickets and group rates visit wellandjackfish.com or call 905-735-9834.
