Damage has been pegged at $1 million following a fire that tore through a Welland business yesterday (Jan. 26) morning.

The Welland Fire Department responded to a call at Bosch Car Service at the corner of Southworth St. and Lewis St. at 5:30 yesterday morning where they found a large blaze spanning multiple garage bays.

Firefighters said afterward there were no injuries and that the fire was brought under control in an hour.

While the investigation is ongoing, early reports suggest the fire started inside the garage.

In the end, 25 firefighters on six trucks landed at the blaze.

“Welland Firefighters handled a significant fire this morning, great job containing this fire,” tweeted Welland Fire Chief Adam Eckhart after the blaze was extinguished.
