Oshawa Generals halved a couple of games this weekend and received official commitments on a pair of defencemen.

On Friday night captain Ty Tullio scored once and assisted on two others to help Oshawa thump Niagara 5-3. Sunday’s night match with the Ottawa 67s didn’t end as well as the club let a 3-0 third period lead slip away to drop a 5-4 decision in a shootout.

Brett Harrison and Ryan Gagnier each scored twice for Oshawa with Tullio extending his point streak to eight games. Both games were at the Tribute Communities Centre.

The official commitments from Thomas Stewart, acquired from Barrie October 1, and Belarus native Nikita Parfenyuk, the Gen’s second round pick in the 2021 import draft, have already helped the team shore up their blueline with Stewart playing in all eight games, picking up three assists. The 6’3” Parfenyuk, who played for Belarus at the 2021 U-18s, is expected to bring some much-needed strength to the back end.

Oshawa is next in action Thursday when they travel north to play the Battalion.
