Labour leaders are encouraging workers to join a Brampton rally this weekend to demand more rights.

The Sunday, May 1 day of action is organized by the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) and will be held at Gage Park starting at noon.

On the agenda for the rally are calls for a $20 minimum wage, access to meaningful jobs, paid sick days, affordable housing, income support, climate change measures and an end to racism and oppression in the workplace.

“The May 1 day of action is an opportunity for all struggles for justice and a better world to come together in a united movement,” reads a statement by the OFL “Together, we will show what’s possible in our province, advance our vision for the Ontario we need, and mobilize to win it.”

May 1 is traditionally recognized as a day for working people to celebrate the labour gains they have won over the years and to commit to continue fighting for a better future.
