Drivers are being advised to give themselves extra time due to road closures coming everyday next week, except for on Canada Day.
The closures will be in place on Steeles Avenue between Airport Road and Goreway Drive starting on Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Region of Peel says.
The closures are for bridge repairs and will be in place everyday next week, excluding Wednesday during Canada Day celebrations.
“Please plan ahead, drive safely, and allow extra time,” the region says.
Thousands of people prepare to gather at Chinguacousy Park for Brampton’s Canada Day celebrations, and city officials are hoping stricter enforcement of the city’s fireworks ban, combined with a major security presence, will prevent a repeat of the dangerous scenes that overshadowed last year’s festivities.
