Webinar on how to apply for St. Catharines arts grants coming up

Since artists tend to stick to their love of art, applying for things like grants is quite possibly outside their area of expertise.

St. Catharines understands that and with available grants from the St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program (SCCIP) coming up soon, they’re offering up a free webinar aimed at helping artists wade through the red tape and get that financial aid they need.

The webinar will take place on Sept. 7 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and will feature a presentation led by staff, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

“We extend an invitation to individual artists and organizations seeking funding support to join us for a walk-through of the application process,” said St. Catharines Culture Supervisor Carly Anderson. “Everyone is welcome to join in from seasoned grant writers to first-time applicants.”

SCCIP development funding has two grant programs designed for small and emerging arts organizations, artist ad-hoc groups, non-profit organizations leading culture-related projects, and businesses and individuals leading community engagement activities.

The upcoming webinar will be focused on applying for Arts Development Program grants. The program supports a range of cultural activities, art forms, and art practices.

This program is intended for emerging arts organizations, artist ad-hoc groups, or arts organizations that work on a project-to-project basis, and for new arts festivals. Applicants will have been active or have existed for at least one year.

The deadline for applying for the 2023 program is Sept. 21 at 4:30 p.m. and the city notes priority will be given to St. Catharines-based arts creation and those with diverse cultural traditions.
