A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of southern Ontario on Thursday (Dec. 23).

Winter weather travel advisory is in effect from late Thursday afternoon through the evening and residents of Mississauga and Brampton can expect the weather system to affect the evening commute.

According to Environment Canada, total snowfall accumulations of 2 to 6 cm can be expected by the time the snow tapers off overnight.

“Snowfall rates are expected to be at their highest this evening and may cause impacts to the evening commute,” the weather agency said in the advisory.

“Accumulating snow on untreated roadways may impact travel and motorists are advised to exercise caution.”

Residents are warned that surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
