Weather advisory in effect for southern Ontario

Last-minute Christmas shoppers and those planning to drive elsewhere for the holidays are advised to remain cautious on the road, due to a fog advisory in southern Ontario.

On Sunday (Dec. 24) shortly before 7 p.m., Environment Canada released a statement saying, “near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring over some areas.”

The regions part of the advisory include:

  • Mississauga
  • Toronto
  • Brampton
  • Burlington
  • Oakville
  • Milton
  • Halton Hills
  • Hamilton
  • Durham Region

If drivers encounter reduced visibility on the road, Environment Canada advises them to switch on their lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.

UPDATED December 25 – 07:00 A.M. – Visibilities should improve Monday morning however, a few locations may remain foggy through the middle of the day.

Dense fog may develop again this evening. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.
