A frost advisory that could damage trees and plants is in effect for a number of towns and cities across southern Ontario, Canada’s national weather agency says.
Environment and Climate Change Canada said Sunday afternoon that frost advisories have been issued for late Sunday night into early Monday morning in a number of communities in the region.
The list of towns and cities potentially impacted incudes, but is not limited to:
- Caledon
- Hamilton
- Brantford
- Halton Hills
- Milton
- Pickering
- Oshawa
- Vaughan
- Richmond Hill
- Markham
- Newmarket
- London
- Kitchener-Waterloo
- Cambridge
- Guelph
The national weather agency says frost in the overnight hours of Sunday into Monday, and patchy frost in some areas, may damage some crops in frost-prone locations in addition to damaging plants and trees.
“Frost is expected again late Monday night into Tuesday morning over some areas,” Environment Canada continued in its advisory, adding it’s a good idea for people in impacted areas to cover up their outdoor plants.
Sunday night/overnight lows in southern Ontario range from zero to 2 C, with some minor exceptions in some areas.
