Weapon Seized in Mental Health Incident On A Mississauga Highway

On April 22, a 30-year-old man was seen walking on the side of Highway 403 near Highway 410 in Mississauga.

OPP officers were called on scene. According to Sergeant Kerry Schmidt, the Toronto man seemed nervous and agitated during the interaction. The officers concluded that it was a mental health issue or the man was in distress.

As officers tried to deescalate the situation, the man drew a weapon. The officers have not confirmed the type of weapon.

The officers then used discretion and disarmed the man. They then took him into custody.

There are no charges against the man. No injuries were sustained.

The man is now in a mental health facility for his well being.

The arrest has been circulating in a video across social media.
