Gun trafficking charges have been laid against two Brampton teens after a weapon sent a Caledon school into lockdown Tuesday afternoon.
Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School was sent into lockdown on Tuesday, shortly after 1:30 p.m., OPP said.
Officers responded to a “weapon-related incident” involving two youths at the school, police said.
And while a spokesperson declined to comment on what type of weapon was found, two teens have been charged with multiple firearm-related charges including trafficking in firearm, weapon, device or ammunition.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident and police say two 16-year-old youths were taken into custody.
Police say both 16-year-old youths from Brampton have been charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, trafficking in firearm, weapon, device or ammunition, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.
One of the accused was also charged with failure to comply with an undertaking.
The names of the accused cannot be released due to a provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
To ensure everyone’s continued safety, the school was placed into lockdown, police said.
The lockdown was lifted just before 3:30 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
The OPP said they take all public safety threats seriously and provide resources necessary to assess and respond to such threats. Caledon OPP thanked the community for their patience during this stressful situation.
