Waterways About to Become More Dangerous in Mississauga

If you plan on spending time outside today, you might want to steer clear of waterways because of heightened water levels.
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) says the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is expecting 15 to 65 mm of rain by the end of Thursday.
An additional 10-15mm is possible in areas that receive severe thunderstorms, should they develop.
CVC says the rain and wet conditions will raise water levels and flows and may cause flooding of low lying areas.
As a result, local streams, rivers, and shorelines will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges and dams. People are advised to stay away from all watercourses and to take extra care to ensure their children and pets are safe.
CVC says the watershed conditions flood outlook statement will be in effect through Friday, May 3 or until further notice.
