Waterfront home in Scugog, showcase home in Pickering top list for most expensive homes sold in Durham in April

A waterfront property with terrific views of Lake Scugog topped the list for most expensive homes sold in Durham Region last month, with the Scugog Township executive bungalow selling for $2,165,000 on April 26.

The home on St. Christophers Beach Road features 4,300 sq.ft. of living space, with 11-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows offering lake views from every room. The home also boasts a renovated open concept kitchen with stainless appliances and granite counters; a main bedroom with a walkout to a sundeck and new ensuite with custom cabinetry; a huge family room with 15-foot ceilings; multiple decks with lake views; and a new custom fireplace.

Nestled between some of the most prestigious homes on the lake, the property leads to some of the best swimming and fishing in the area and a large dock and boat ramp to get there.

At #2 is a 4-bedroom, 5-bath showcase home on Regal Road in Pickering that sold April 28 for $1,705,000 – $56,000 over asking.

The home features a gourmet kitchen and a Scarlett O’Hara staircase that leads to a 2-level foyer.

Number three on the list is another 4-bedroom, 5-bath home, this one on Dolby Crescent in Ajax. This home boasts cathedral ceilings and a Swarovski chandelier and sold April 10 for $1,651,786 – a whopping $150,000-plus over asking.

At #4 is a one-and-half storey house on Simcoe St. N in Oshawa in the heart of the city’s booming university district which is ripe for re-development.

The property, which is zoned to allow for everything from a student housing apartment building to a long-term care home, sold for $100,000 over asking April 16 for $1.6 million.

The fifth home on the list, compiled by real estate company Zoocasa, is a 3-bedroom, 4-bath house on Bolton Drive in Uxbridge’s Quaker Village neighbourhood that sold April 23 for $1,4999,900.

The professionally updated home has 2,500 sq.ft of living space.
