Some Canadians can’t get enough of the Olympics, including one driver in Ontario who police say was busted watching the games on their phone while going nearly 50 km/h over the speed limit.

The OPP said on Wednesday morning that officers in Peterborough pulled over a speeding driver travelling at 128 km/h in an 80 k/m zone. And when police investigated the vehicle they found the driver had been “watching Olympic horse jumping” while driving.

A picture of the traffic stop shared by police shows the driver’s cellphone placed on the vehicle’s dashboard navigation display, with what appears to be the Olympic Games playing on the device.

Police say the driver was hit with tickets for speeding and driving with a handheld entertainment device.

The incident has the OPP urging Ontario drivers to “support the athletes but not at the expense of others on the road.”

Anyone who witnesses an unsafe driver on Ontario highways can contact the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may also be provided to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
