A warrant is out for a man who fled from police in a bizarre incident at a Whitby gas station Friday night.

The suspect was driving a car with fake plates and when approached by police at a service centre on Dundas Street initially gave the officer a false name before locking himself in his car. The driver then abruptly fled from police, driving in an “erratic manner” away from a brief police pursuit.

The warrant is issued for Valter Pereira-Cabral, 29 of no fixed address for seven offences, including flight from police, obstruction and dangerous driving.
