Wanted federal offender on the lam arrested in Oshawa

After days of searching the OPP have announced the arrest of a wanted federal offender known to frequent Oshawa.
Jeffery Avery, now 25, was convicted of forcible confinement, robbery, assault with a weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, trafficking Schedule I and II, identity theft, and failure to comply with a probation order in August 2019 after incidents in the spring of that year.
In May 2019, Durham Regional Police put out a warrant for Avery’s arrest after nine cars in Clarington were broken into and a car was stolen from a Rundle Rd driveway. Avery was living in Oshawa at the time.
During Avery’s sentencing hearing in the Oshawa courthouse, Judge G.R. Wakefield told Avery, “you are the perfect example of somebody who is doing a life sentence in jail on the installment plan and every time you come out you probably get yourself stabilized just long enough to get back into trouble again and you are losing the ability to get a job,” according to court records.
After his release, Avery “went unlawfully at large” on May 30, 2022. The OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) squad announced they were looking for Avery on September 20.
Days later on September 23, they announced that DRPS arrested Avery in Oshawa.
