The Niagara Regional Police Service is asking the public to help with an ongoing investigation to locate a wanted man who allegedly cut off a court-ordered ankle monitoring device and later fled in a van with a woman and children.

On Saturday (Mar. 25) 2023 at approximately 3 p.m., police responded to a residence in Thorold, Niagara where they confirmed Daniella Nettos as the driver of the Dodge Journey van which failed to stop for officers and is believed to have held her three children ages 10, 7 and 3 as well as the wanted man Juan Carlos Castro as passengers.

Nettos was arrested and charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and eventually released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Police say the children are safe and the van was also located.

However, 28-year-old Juan Carlos Castro remains at large and his updated charges include mischief under $5000 and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Police are urging that if anyone knows the location of Castro, to not approach him and call 911.

Anyone with more information on the incident is asked to contact the investigating detectives at  905-688-4111.
