Bowmanville residents and transit users will get an opportunity to see the latest planning documents on the Bowmanville GO extension next moth, with Metrolinx opening the virtual lines from June 8-21, including a Virtual Open House June 14.

Since completion of the initial Environmental Project Report in 2011, Metrolinx has advanced the design of the Bowmanville Rail Service Extension project – including changes to the proposed layover facility and potential GO station locations, track alignment, the addition of new bridges, bridge replacements and bridge expansions to accommodate the proposed new tracks.

Due to the “significant changes” in the last dozen years, an addendum to the report is required and will be ready for review and comment in two weeks.

The Virtual Public Information Centre will run from June 8 to June 21 to “present and seek feedback” on the results of the technical studies, including potential impacts and proposed mitigation measures. The materials will be made available for review on June 8 at Bowmanville GO. During the Virtual PIC period, interested transit users and residents can submit questions or feedback via the Slido form at the bottom of the webpage or by email to [email protected].

There will also be a live Virtual Open House on Wednesday, June 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the project team on hand to answer questions about the project, submitted in advance or during the event via Slido. All comments received are documented in the revised addendum.
