The Ajax Mayor’s Gala went virtual again this year but still raised $200,000 to directly support Ajax charities and initiatives.

This year’s Virtual Road Trip premiered June 29 and featured highlights of Ajax’s storied history, unique places, and special guests including Ontario’s first Poet Laureate, Randall Adjei.

The recording can be viewed at any time on the Gala’s website or YouTube channel.

In just three years, the Ajax Mayor’s Gala has put more than $400,000 to work in Ajax – funding projects that support marginalized, and vulnerable people in the community.

“I want to thank the incredible group of people that came together to make this virtual road trip possible,” said Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier. “We are very fortunate to have the support of incredible sponsors that helped us bring this vision to life.”

Past gala events have included a Speakeasy in 2019 and an Online Fundraiser last year.

The organizations that will benefit from the Gala includes the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation – Indigenous Community & Healing Garden; Big Brothers Big Sisters; Durham Children’s Aid Foundation; Durham Youth Services – Joanne’s House; Luke’s Place; Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 322 Ajax; and the Salvation Army.

Major sponsors of the event were Ajax Downs, SunCity Developments and LEDIM Developments.
