Durham is reporting zero COVID-19 patients in ICUs around the region for the second consecutive week, though there is one new death to report.

Data on the virus is released weekly but this week’s numbers reflect only a three-day period from June 7 to 9, inclusive.

There are 19 people in Durham hospitals with COVID-19 and just one new outbreak at a long-term care home was reported, though that was at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa, the 15th outbreak at the facility since the pandemic began in the spring of 2020. Eight patients died in one outbreak last fall.

There are just four outbreaks in retirement homes in Durham.

The incident rate per 100,000 was 11.9 last week and the positivity rate from tests was 6.2 per cent. New cases in the period increased by just 87.

More than 87 per cent of the 5-plus population has now received at least their first set of shots while 88.5 per cent of the 12-plus population has received two doses and 54.5 both shots and the booster.
