A popular Toronto dessert spot that’s the first of its kind in the city has migrated west.

Tanghulu Tanghulu, a unique spot known for offering colourful skewers and cups of candied fruit (precisely like the kind you might find in China), officially opened on Friday at Square One in Mississauga.

“It all begins with the freshest fruit, quality sugar and highest quality Belgium chocolate available in the world today,” the brand’s website reads.

Located across from Ardene on level two of the expansive shopping centre, Tanghulu Tanghulu offers fresh fruit coated in a crispy sugar shell. The shop also offers cups of strawberries and bananas coated in Belgian chocolate or choco matcha.

The concept, not uncommon internationally but newer to North America, is something the company believes could take off and become as popular as another beloved import: Bubble tea.

“Tanghulu Tanghulu has the potential to revolutionize dessert shops worldwide. Utilizing a strong online brand presence with over 1 million+ impressions on social media, as well as professional customer service, Tanghulu Tanghulu is bringing its unique dessert experience worldwide,” the company says on its website.

The Square One location is currently celebrating its grand opening by offering a free gift to the first 20 customers
