Police are on the hunt for five men involved in two early morning home invasions, first in Oakville, then later in Burlington.

On April 22, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the five went to a residence in the Roseland neighbourhood of south Burlington. The culprits smashed a glass panel on the front door, reached inside to unlock it, and quickly gained entry.

“The suspects were confronted by the residents and made demands for valuables,” according to Halton Regional Police. “A physical altercation ensued, during which one of the residents was struck in the head with an unknown object. The injury required medical attention. The altercation caused the suspects to flee the scene. No items were stolen.”

Investigators have determined that the same group was responsible for an attempted break-in earlier that morning in Oakville.

At approximately 3 a.m., the suspects tried to smash through the door of the home using a hammer. The homeowner called 911, and the suspects fled before police arrived.

In both incidents, the suspects were seen driving a dark-coloured sedan. All five suspects were wearing hoodies and balaclavas.

Investigators are appealing to the public for any video footage (dashcam or surveillance) from the area near Royal Windsor Drive and Ford Drive between 2:45 a.m. and 3:10 a.m., and in the area of New Street (between Walkers Line and Guelph Line) and Rossmore Boulevard between the hours of 3:30 a.m. and 4:10 a.m.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.
