Halton Regional Police are looking for a group of suspects after a violent robbery at a park in Oakville sent three people to hospital early Sunday morning (June 26).

Police said they were alerted of a robbery at Shell Park at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday where a group of suspects approached three young men who were together in the park and proceeded to assault and rob them.

One victim, a 20-year-old male, was “struck in the head with a firearm and punched,” police say.

The suspect, who was holding a handgun, demanded he hand over his belongings. A chain was stolen from the victim.

A second victim, an 18-year-old male, was assaulted by one of the suspects and suffered unknown injuries. Police say he had his chain and wallet stolen.

A third victim, also 18 years old, was assaulted and suffered unknown injuries. Nothing was stolen from him.

All three victims, say police, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are working on identifying all parties responsible for the robbery. Police are not releasing descriptions of the suspects as they believe they might be underage.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Halton Regional Police Service at 905-825-4777, ext. 2216.
