Vintage Video Game Expo Returns to Mississauga
Video gaming, like all technology, is constantly evolving and reaching new heights. However, unlike all technology, there’s a sizeable number of people out there still in love with the old: Those classic retro games that built their childhoods with 8-bit graphics and catchy chiptunes.
If you’re one of those people, this event is for you.
A video game expo — aptly named GameX 2.0 — is returning to Mississauga this year on Sunday, June 24 at the Hershey Centre.
From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., vintage game fans can participate in a number of events as well as a massive retro gaming bazaar.
“We will have over 85 vendors selling and trading over 10,000 video games,” said event organizer Robin Dhanju, adding there’s “everything from Atari to PS4 and all in between.”
Attendees are invited to explore a large free to play area showcasing the evolution of gaming throughout the past 40 years, or check out the Developer’s Den, where local indie developers show off their newest titles.
Gamers who are eager to show their stuff can participate in a tournament for Super Smash Bros. Melee or Mario Kart 64. The winners will get to take home a brand new Nintendo Switch.
While general admission for the expo is $5, kids 12 and under get in completely free.
