Brampton’s newest small business owner is also one of Mississauga’s best-known athletes: NBA star RJ Barrett of the New York Knicks.

Barrett, along with parents Rowan and Kesha, are the new owners of the Booster Juice franchise located at 9055 Airport Rd., in the Woodhill Centre.

“I’ve always loved Booster Juice,” said Barrett during an exclusive interview with insauga.com Publisher Khaled Iwamura.

“Growing up, my dad used to take me there all the time. After my games, I’d go get some Booster Juice, sometimes I’d take my teammates with me.”

Barrett, 21, was the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft.

He said, as a high-performance athlete, it’s important to know what’s going into your body and Booster Juice provides plenty of healthy options.

“Taking care of your body is so important if you want to perform. Your body is a machine and you have to fuel it. Booster Juice is healthy living.”

Barrett attended St. Marcellinus Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga and, although he didn’t want to say who is favourite teachers were, he did shout out Principal Frank Furgiuele as a really great guy.

“Mississauga is a special place and I’m so lucky to call it home.”
