Video update: Kitten thrown from car in Burlington has leg amputated

The kitten thrown from a moving vehicle along a stretch of Hwy. 403 in Burlington has had one of its legs amputated.

A video update provided by the OPP indicates the leg had to be removed because veterinarians determined it was too badly damaged.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is the female cat is otherwise doing well and recovering after the surgery at a Burlington animal clinic.

“She is alive and well and recovering from the incident that happened to her on Friday,” the OPP reports through a social media video. “The doctor here at the vet clinic determined the best course of action would be to amputate her right leg. On Saturday afternoon she had that surgery…and it was a great success.”

The kitten also has an infection in her left eye but that is also improving.

“She is being well taken care of and on the road to recovery,” the video continues.

Police continue to search for witnesses and more information as they investigate the case.

The incident occurred between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 403 just west of Waterdown Rd.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Burlington OPP at 905-681-2511.
