Video: Transport truck fire closes lanes on Hwy. 401 in Mississauga

A large truck fire delayed traffic and closed lanes during rush hour on Highway 401 in Mississauga.
The transport truck trailer burst into flames in the westbound express lanes of Highway 401 just past Dixie Road in Mississauga yesterday (Aug. 23) around 5 p.m., OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a tweet.
The truck driver was able to separate the trailer from the cab, Schmidt.
No injuries were reported.
The fire appeared to have started in the rear axel of the trailer. The truck was hauling a load of aluminum, Schmidt said.
Large plumes of black smoke billowed across the collector lanes of the highway.

Two right lanes of the highway were blocked.
By around 5:20 p.m. fire crews had knocked down the fire but the lanes were closed for the clean-up.
