VIDEO: Tractor-trailer crashes into a backyard in Mississauga

A transport truck driver careened off a highway in Mississauga, mowed down several trees and came to a stop in somebody’s backyard on Friday.
The hood of the rig was completely torn off by the force of impact, according to a video shared by the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division.
The OPP said the crash occurred on the Queen Elizabeth Way highway at Dixie Road. The OPP said that a 62-year-old man from St. Catharines has been charged with dangerous driving and impaired driving in relation to the crash.
Peel Paramedics were also called to the scene.

The crash did not appear to result in any closures along the QEW, however. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s real-time traffic site, 511on.ca, was not listing any closures along provincial highways in Mississauga as of 9:20 p.m. on Friday.
