Video: Sign comes crashing down on Highway 401 in Whitby

The transport truck that hit an overhead highway sign on Highway 401 in Whitby Friday morning has been identified.

The collapsed sign has traffic in both directions closed while OPP ask motorists to find alternate routes.

The collision caused the sign to collapse on the westbound lanes of the roadway at Brock Street about 7:46 a.m., causing major traffic delays as commuters scramble to find ways around the downed sign.

Police are currently reaching out the trucking company and are asking the truck driver to call the OPP’s Whitby detachment at (905) 668-3388.
