Another rally in support of Palestine is currently taking place this afternoon in Mississauga’s city centre.

The ongoing rally passed through the area of Burnhamthorpe and Hurontario, with some participants standing in their vehicles and shooting fireworks.

Police have advised that there are no road closures but residents should expect delays.

Peel police issued a statement on Saturday morning (May 22) saying that they recognized the rights of individuals to gather peacefully, but asked residents to be mindful of social gathering limits due to COVID-19.

Officers are monitoring the event and it’s unclear whether they anticipate laying any charges.

Earlier this week, a massive pro-Palestine protest took over Celebration Square on Tuesday, May 18.

The event was organized by The Palestinian Canadian Community Centre in Mississauga to “protest the ongoing ethnic cleansing of our people in the homeland.”
