Frustrated Mississauga residents don’t know what to do about a man who blasts music with several speakers on a cart.

The man has been spotted in different areas of Mississauga for the past two years, according to posts on Reddit. Sometimes he has a dog on a leash as he pulls the trolley.

But more recently, the man has kept people awake at night around Hurontario Street and Eglinton Avenue in Mississauga and complaints aren’t doing anything to stop him.

“He has like 8 speakers and blasts music mainly at night, at times after midnight,” one person posted on  Reddit. “It’s so weird he has so many speakers on a trolley. My newborn and I woke up a few times actually at night because of him…wondering what can be done…”

Others have said they have called the police non-emergency line several times in the last two years but when police arrive, he is gone. And then he comes back another night.

The City of Mississauga confirms they have had two recent complaints that seem to be about the man in question.

One was on Nov. 26 at 10:02 p.m. at Eglinton Avenue and Sorento Drive and the second, on the same night at 11:21 p.m. at 4559 Hurontario St. Both times, bylaw officers attended and found the man had left, a City of Mississauga spokesperson said.

The city suggests residents report noise complaints by calling 311 or filling out an online service request.

A resident near Fairwinds Park, Paquistino (on Reddit), tells insauga.com they made a video during the summer and posted it to Reddit after a recent complaint on the social media site.

Paquistino said the music blasting from the speakers woke their toddler in the summer around 1:30 a.m. They called the non-emergency line but were advised that there was nothing they could do to assist.

Another person said they have been recording the man since their first run-in on June 28, 2022. The resident’s condo security approached the man and he was very aggressive and yelled.

He has blasted electronic, rock music or other sounds through the night — once at 5 a.m.

“At one point he was playing horror movie trailers, imagine how scary it is to be hearing that late night,” one person wrote on Reddit. “Just screaming being blasted…”

He often walks slowly through a neighbourhood.

The City of Mississauga updated the noise control bylaw in November.

There are more enforcement officers and overnight coverage for complaints such as out-of-control street parties, dangerous street racing, persistent dog barking, excessively loud sporting events and other late-night and overnight disturbances.

See the city’s website for further information.
