Police are searching for what they call a “reckless” and “dangerous” driver caught on camera fleeing from officers in a busy Brampton parking lot on the weekend.

The altercation happened on Saturday around 10:30 p.m. at the College Plaza parking lot in Brampton while Peel Regional Police say officers were responding to complaints about “vehicles driving erratically.”

Video of the incident making the rounds on social media shows two Peel police officers standing at the driver’s side door of a black Jeep and speaking with the driver.

One of the officers appears to grab the driver’s arm moments before he hits the gas and takes off from police, driving across the parking lot with bystanders and other vehicles nearby. Video of the interaction has been viewed more than 180,000 times on X, formerly Twitter.

Police say the driver accelerated through the crowded parking lot “in a dangerous manner, striking a traffic sign on the way out.”

Gurprit Singh, 26, of Brampton is believed to be evading police, and a warrant of arrest has been issued for the following offences:
