A Brampton resident is warning their neighbours to be on the lookout for an alleged porch pirate caught on video on Feb. 12, 2024.

A Brampton resident is warning their neighbours to be on the lookout for an alleged porch pirate caught on video.

The theft happened on Monday around 7:15 p.m. in the area of James Potter Road and Creditview Road at a home near James Potter Public School in Brampton.

A video captured on a doorbell camera shared with Insauga.com shows a man wearing a baseball cap and a large backpack casually walking up to the front door of the residence. That’s when the man can be seen reaching down out of frame to grab an Amazon package from the doorstep.

A spokesperson for Peel Regional Police has confirmed that the incident has been reported and investigators are aware of the theft.

While the resident says Amazon has refunded the purchase of the pilfered item, they are urging others to keep an eye out for the alleged thief, who may be frequenting the area.

“I may have seen this guy this morning,” the resident, who is not being named by Insauga.com said on Thursday, adding that this is the first time they’ve had a package stolen since moving to the area in 2020.

The man in the video appears to be light-skinned and is seen wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap, a winter jacket and light-coloured hoodie, and a large duffle-style backpack. He was also carrying what appeared to be a handheld electronic device with an antenna and digital screen.

Anyone with information about this incident or any other suspicious activity can contact the Peel Regional Police non-emergency line by calling 905-453-3311. Anonymous tips may also be submitted by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.
