Video has surfaced online of a police takedown after officers boxed in an alleged impaired driver on a Brampton highway.

The incident started around 4 p.m. on Sunday when Peel Regional Police say officers were alerted to a possible impaired driver in the area of Williams Parkway and James Potter Road in Brampton.

When officers arrived at the scene the male driver took off from police, a PRP spokesperson told Insauga.com. The man was later spotted on Highway 401 in Brampton and Peel police called for assistance from the Mississauga OPP.

That’s when officers initiated a takedown, with a video shared on social media showing at least four police cruisers pinning the driver’s vehicle against a divider in the left hand lane of the 401 near Steeles Avenue.

The video, which has been viewed over 56,000 times online, shows an OPP cruiser driving on the right hand shoulder of the highway before cutting across traffic and slamming into the suspect vehicle before several other cruisers crash into the silver hatchback.

A police spokesperson said one adult male was arrested at the scene and faces an impaired driving charge. No additional details about the accused have been released.
