One person is in custody and another is on the run after police foiled a home invasion caught on camera where thieves try to run off with a safe full of cash in Brampton.

The break-in happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday at a home in the area of Goreway Drive and Cottrelle Boulevard in Brampton, Peel Regional Police confirmed to INsauga.com.

Videos of the incident shared on social media show what appear to be two men trying to flee the scene in a dark-coloured pickup truck.

One of the men doubles back to the front yard of the home as police arrive on the scene, using a police cruiser to crash into the front of the truck to box it in.

A Peel police officer jumps out and shouted commands at the pair, but one suspect attempted to run from the officer on foot while another fled in the truck. The officer points what appears to be either a firearm or a conducted energy weapon (commonly known as a Taser) at the suspects while chasing one of them down.

“Don’t (expletive deleted) move, don’t move – hands up, ” the officer screams at the suspect.

The driver of the truck threw the vehicle in reverse and crashed into some garbage cans before making their escape. The videos show what appeared to be the thieves’ target – a safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

“Don’t go inside, wait for the police,” someone can be heard saying in one of the videos as a burglar alarm can be heard in the background.

A third video of the incident shows one person being detained by police as the pickup truck can be seen driving away.

Peel police say one suspect was taken into custody following a foot chase with officers, while the suspect in the truck managed to escape.

No injuries were reported in the break-in and police say the investigation is ongoing. Police have not said if any charges have been laid.
