VIDEO: Explosion causes major power outage in Hamilton

If you are waking up in Hamilton, you might be in an area without power.

Currently, 3,318 homes and businesses are without power in Hamilton.

The outage is affecting the area of Main Street West to Dow Avenue and from Highway 403 to Scholars Road.

Alectra crews are working on resolving the issue, and the estimated time for power to be restored is 1 p.m.

A twitter viewer caught the transformer exploding as it happened.

According to the twitter user this expansion took place in the area of Whitney Avenue and Leland Street.
