An excavator was used to rip through the front end of a Scotiabank branch in Vaughan last night in an alleged ATM theft.

A 25-second video clip circulating on social media captures the aftermath of the break-in, which appears to have happened at 8565 Highway 27 in Woodbridge, next to the Fortinos grocery store.

A gaping hole is visible in the building, with debris strewn across the pavement.

The woman recording the video walks toward the bank, narrating, “I came to bank this morning, and this is what happened. Apparently, some people stole this piece of machinery and took the entire ATM at Scotiabank.

While the video does not clearly show the missing ATMs, police have not indicated whether cash or machines were taken during the break-in.

The video continues with the woman saying, “Isn’t that ridiculous?” She then flips the camera to herself and adds, “I’m telling you, this world—what is it coming to? I can’t even do my banking.”

Instagram users flocked to the comment section to weigh in, with reactions ranging from shock to humour. One person dismissed the woman recording as a “Karen,” while others speculated on the crime itself.

One user questioned the lack of police presence, writing, “So, in the time it took for the excavator to claw out the ATM, the police did not even manage to be present? Nobody saw this happening?!”

Another joked about the irony of the heist by referencing the bank’s slogan, ” Scotiabank—you’re richer than you think.”
Information on the suspects, including descriptions or images, are unavailable at this time.
