VIDEO: Dominican officials release images of drugs found on plane headed to Mississauga

Authorities in the Dominican Republic has have released a video and photos of drugs seized on a flight that was destined for Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

The images show agents going through luggage and pulling out packages of what has been determined as cocaine at Punta Cana International Airport.

The crew of Mississauga-based Pivot Airlines and some passengers have since been detained by the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) in the Dominican.


The DNCD says more than 200 packages of cocaine were found hidden in the plane on April 5. The estimated street value of the drugs is $18-million.

Pivot Airlines says it was aircrew that discovered the drugs and alerted the authorities in the Caribbean island nation. The airline insists it crew is not involved with the smuggling of drugs and is working towards getting the Canadians returned home.
