A Mississauga resident hopes to find the person who slammed into her mother’s car and left the scene.

Home security video captures the car as it hits a parked vehicle on the north side of Shaw Drive in the Lakeview area around 10 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 17), the resident Sidney, who asked we didn’t use her last name, said.

The video captures the loud crash as a dark vehicle hits the parked car. The driver pulls ahead and stops with hazard lights on. Another vehicle drives alongside the stopped car and then they both leave.

Sidney could hear the crash inside her house.

“…this was a scary sound even from inside my house it was so loud,” she wrote on a Facebook post on Port Hope Friends.

Fortunately, no one was inside the car when it was hit. Sidney called police right away but she said they couldn’t find the driver.

The car was badly damaged in the back and side and it is not drivable, she said. Sidney’s mother had to find alternative arrangements for work.

“My mom is a nurse and has had to work from home for the next couple weeks until she sorts out a new one (car),” Sidney said.

Unfortunately, Sidney’s mother doesn’t have no-fault insurance and needs to find the driver for their insurance to replace the car. Sidney said she has had some tips from her Facebook post but is hoping to get a license plate through dash cam or another security video footage.

As of Thursday, police hadn’t located the driver.

Peel Regional Police tell insauga.com that they got a call for a possible impaired driver on Shaw Drive at 10:06 p.m. on Oct. 17.

Officers canvassed the area for video surveillance and any witnesses but do not have any suspect information or vehicle information at this time, police said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 12 Division at 905-453-2121 ext. 1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
