Video captures huge explosion in St. Catharines

Video has emerged showing a huge explosion in St. Catharines.

This morning (Jan. 12) around 7:30 a.m. Niagara Regional Police reported they are evacuating homes after explosions were reported in the city’s north end.

The explosions are in the Seaway, Haulage Road and Keefer Road area, police said.

Residents were told to stay in their homes and officers were evacuating people from areas close to the explosions.

A video captured on CCTV shows what is reportedly the first explosion at 20 Keefer Rd.

The cause of the explosions is not yet known. An update on the incident was expected at 8:30 a.m.
