A video captures a boater rescue in rough waters on Lake Ontario from Mississauga.
The incident began after a boater called for help around 5 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 27), a Peel Regional Police spokesperson tells insauga.com.
The Marine Unit responded to the call for distress but was unable to tow the boat due to rough waters, police said.
They anchored the boat instead and transported the passengers back to shore, police said. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
Witness Steven A. Sweet tells insauga.com that he spotted the rescue while he was getting ready to photograph the moonrise around 7 p.m. for his Facebook page, Lunar 101-Moon Book.
Sweet says he was on the beach at the Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens, 660 Lakeshore Rd. W., when he filmed the rescue.
The police boat can be seen circling the sailboat in very choppy water.
