A Brampton artist is gunning for a $1 million payday, bringing his mind- and body-bending skills back to reality TV for this season of Canada’s Got Talent.

Brampton-based human resources Troy “Twisty” James is an actor, performer and human resources worker who has wowed crowds and viewers with his contortions.

Bending his body with twists and turns into bizarre distortions, James is one of over 100 Canadian hopefuls vying for a huge prize on this year’s Canada’s Got Talent Million Dollar Season.

While this will be his first appearance on the Canadian version of the popular contest and variety show, the Brampton native appeared on Season 13 of America’s Got Talent – a performance that gained over 32 million views on the show’s social media pages.

He’s even made appearances on late-night talk shows like The Late Late Show with James Cordon.

A former performer at Canada’s Wonderland, James’ contortionist abilities have seen him jump to the small and silver screens playing creepy and sometimes disturbing characters or creatures with a resume that includes working with acclaimed horror director Guillermo Del Toro to play monsters on “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” and “Hellboy,” and a multi-episode arc as the super villain Ragdoll on “The Flash.”

He has also teamed up with creature movement creator and choreographer Roberto Campanella (Shape of Water, Silent Hill, The Expanse) and Cirque du Soleil Choreographer Debra Brown to create new and frightful creations.

James won’t be the only wild act on the Canada’s Got Talent Million Dollar Season but he is the only one from Brampton to make the cut this year. Past Brampton acts include magician Savio Joseph, who wowed the all-star panel of judges with his fiery performance.

Hosted by Canadian country music star Lindsay Ell, the Canada’s Got Talent Million Dollar Season premiers on March 19 at 8 p.m. on Citytv. The season will wrap on May 14 in a live two-hour finale from OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls.
