If you need further proof that Mississauga is the centre of the universe take note: When it came time for two iconic brands to meet it happened right here.

For the second time this week, Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports stepped into a Mississauga restaurant to sample the goods for his One Bite Pizza Reviews. This time he picked Carlo’s Bakery, made famous through its New Jersey-based reality television show The Cake Boss.

Portnoy didn’t say why he bypassed Carlo’s in Hoboken and traveled north of the border to grab a slice, but he did suggest the Port Credit shop invited him because they knew he was in town.

As it turns out, he was well pleased.

“This is really good,” was Portnoy’s response after taking a bite out of the Sicilian-style pizza. “Really good stuff.”

Ultimately Portnoy, who says he prefers thin slice over the thicker style present at Carlo’s, gave the bake shop a 7.5 rating out of ten for their pizza.

The day before Portnoy also enjoyed a slice at Mississauga’s Pizza Nostra.

The founder of U.S.based Barstool Sports, a growing sports media company, Portnoy has been able to expand his empire and uses trips that he plans for game coverage as an opportunity to sample pizza from around North America and give his appraisal. The One Bite Pizza Reviews have become extremely popular with his audience and a good review usually means an uptick in sales at the chosen pizzeria.

Warning: There is some swearing in this video.
