Passengers left an Air Canada plane by emergency slides after the flight, bound for Toronto, returned to Denver this weekend.

Air Canada flight 1038 was bound for Toronto Pearson Airport on Sunday when the crew reported a possible electrical fire, according to a Federal Aviation Administration statement provided to news outlets.

The Airbus A220 returned to Denver and landed safely at approximately 8:15 a.m.

Passengers were deplaned on the runway, the statement read.

A video shows the passengers exiting the plane on emergency slides.

In a statement, Air Canada said flight 1038 from Denver to Toronto, operated by an Airbus A220, returned to Denver shortly after takeoff due to a reported acrid smell in a galley area.

“The aircraft landed safely, and the 117 passengers and 5 crew evacuated the aircraft using emergency slides as a precaution,” the statement read.

One passenger sustained a minor injury during the evacuation process, Air Canada told INsauga.com.

Passengers were provided with alternate travel arrangements as soon as possible that same day, Air Canada said.

The aircraft remains undamaged in Denver awaiting the replacement of the emergency slides before it returns to service, the airline added.
