Victim trapped in rollover crash, all lanes closed on major highway route in Brampton

All southbound lanes on a stretch of Highway 401 were closed as emergency crews are working to rescue a victim from a flipped vehicle in Brampton.

Police say the crash happened on Friday morning when a vehicle crashed on the southbound 410 between Williams Parkway and Queen Street in Brampton.

The crash was a single-vehicle collision which resulted in a rollover, and one patient was trapped inside the vehicle according to a spokesperson for Peel.

Emergency crews worked to free the trapped victim and all southbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed due to debris on the road. A spokesperson for Peel Paramedics Services said one adult patient was transported from the scene to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic was expected to be congested for some time due to the emergency situation and drivers were urged to avoid the area.

UPDATE: Police said shortly after 10:15 a.m. that the crash had been cleared and all southbound lanes of the highway had been reopened.
