The pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on Mount Albion Rd in Hamilton last week has died from her injuries.

Police say the identity of the 55-year-old woman will not be released.

The driver of the vehicle, Christopher Mulligan of Hamilton, is facing new charges that could lead to a 14-year prison sentence.

Mulligan, 52, turned himself in to police after a pedestrian was struck and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

He is facing charges related to dangerous driving causing death, failure to remain at the scene after causing death, and failure to comply with his probation.

The incident occurred on Sept. 14 at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Mount Albion Rd, north of Hixon.

Police say the suspect was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV when he lost control of the vehicle, which mounted the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian.

Police say the man exited the vehicle and spoke with witnesses before fleeing on foot, westbound towards Lawrence Rd.

Police had publically urged the driver of the vehicle to turn themselves in.
