Victim of fatal Mississauga shooting identified as local resident

Police are investigating a recent shooting in Mississauga that took the life of a male resident.

Around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, officers received reports of gunshots in the area of Glen Erin Drive and Britannia Road West.

Reports indicate a man was shot in an alleyway in the residential complex, with a nearby youth coming to the aid of the victim until first responders arrived.

“Despite the best efforts of first responders, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said police.

He has been identified as 45 year old Mississauga man Rohan Bennett.

A person is believed to have been seen running from the area, but police have not provided any suspect description at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

This is the 18th homicide of the year in Peel Region, and is believed to be a targeted incident.
