Victim ‘lured’ in violent carjacking attack leading to charges for teens in Brampton: police

Police say charges have been laid against a quartet of teens after a male victim was lured, beaten and robbed in a carjacking in Brampton.

The assault and robbery happened on Sunday when a male was carjacked near Goreway Drive and Queen Street East.

Police say the victim was “lured” to a parking lot in the area by a suspect, and during the meeting two other suspects jumped the victim “from behind.”

“He was choked and punched multiple times, rendering him unconscious,” Peel police say of the attack.

When the victim came to, police say he found that his wallet, phone and vehicle had all been stolen

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries while the suspects took a joyride in the stolen car, picking up a fourth suspect along the way.

Police tracked the vehicle to Caledon in the area of Kennedy Road and Twistleton Street and the four suspects were arrested.

Because of the violent nature of the robbery, officers executed “a high-risk vehicle stop,” police said.

Investigators say they recovered the victim’s stolen wallet, phone and car while the four suspects were arrested.

Police said a 13-year-old female youth from Kitchener is charged with Possession of Stolen Property. A 14-year-old female youth from London is charged with Robbery and Possession of Stolen Property.

Two male youths, one 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, both of Brampton, have been charged with robbery, wearing a disguise with intent, and possession of stolen property, police said.

One of the accused is currently on a form of judicial release, and a second was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The accused cannot be named due to general provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and “anticipate more charges could be laid.”
