Victim in fatal north Whitby crash was 82, police say

Durham Region Police have released details about the fatal crash in Whitby last night, which claimed an 82 year-old man’s life and sent two patients to hospital.
Police say the man was driving southbound in a grey Honda Odyssey minivan Monday afternoon when he collided with a black Ford F-150 truck near Lakeridge Road and Columbus Road.
The driver of the Odyssey, who is a Whitby resident, was declared dead at the scene. His female passenger was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries. The driver of the F-150, a 30-year-old man from Ajax, was also taken to hospital.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to call 905-579-1520.
